Why natural stone needs the right silicone
Product compatibility is critical when working with natural stone.
Natural stone is porous by nature. Many general-purpose silicones contain oils and plasticisers that can migrate into the stone over time, causing visible staining and discolouration that cannot be reversed.
Acid-curing silicones can also etch or damage sensitive stone surfaces, particularly marble, limestone, and other calcium-based materials. Selecting a silicone specifically formulated for natural stone helps protect both the appearance and structural integrity of the installation.
